For the fifth consecutive year, the Health Federation of Philadelphia was recognized as a recipient of the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health from Mental Health America, a top honor for employers in the United States committed to creating mentally healthy workplaces.

“Our team at the Health Federation is honored and gratified to receive this award once again,” said Health Federation Chief Executive Officer Natalie Levkovich. “We are very intentional about maintaining our workplace culture and support of staff who show up and put forth their best for the organization and our mission. We do our best to return their commitment in kind.”

Platinum is the highest-level designation awarded by Mental Health of America, which evaluates employers on how they address mental health at work and their policies and practices that support employee well-being.

Categories scored by the MHA in the evaluation process are Workplace Culture, Benefits That Support Mental Health, Caring Beyond Compliance, and Holistic Wellness at Work.

Specific initiatives cited in the Health Federation’s application include regular events focused on employee engagement and mindfulness; an organizational trauma awareness policy; intentional focus on mental health when adding and improving benefits, policies, and employee engagement activities; an employee wellness program that offers resources covering physical, emotional, and behavioral health needs; and multiple leave strategies and options.

In 2019, the MHA introduced the Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health. The Bell Seal recognizes employer advances in workplace mental health by awarding Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum recognition levels. Only 2 in 5 workplaces meet the standards for Bell Seal certification at any level. For more information on certification, visit the MHA website.
