News Story Highlights Symposium on Aging With HIV

HIV aging readiness symposium

April 9, 2025

A recent news story from Metro Philadelphia covered a symposium on aging with HIV that was hosted by the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, the Heath Federation of Philadelphia and the Mid/Atlantic AIDS Education and Training Center.

The HIV Aging Readiness Symposium was held on Feb. 27 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Center City.

Healthcare leaders spoke about the unique challenges faced by people aging with HIV. Although those health concerns are much the same as the general population of people 50 and older, such as multiple chronic diseases, using multiple medications, increased vulnerability, and physical and cognitive changes, those challenges come at a faster rate and with a larger burden of coexisting health conditions for those living with HIV who are 50 and older.
