Philadelphia, PA – The Health Federation of Philadelphia (HFP) announced today that the organization will be honored as the recipient of the American Cancer Society’s Partners in Health Award at the 2018 American Cancer Society, Greater Philadelphia Area Volunteer Awards Celebration on Thursday November 1, 2018.  HFP was selected to be honored because of the great work the organization has done to make differences in the lives of people in the Philadelphia-area community.

After more than 35 years, HFP is excited to announce that, as of Monday, October 29th, we're moving our offices to two new locations;  Administration, Training and Population Health will be housed at 123 S. Broad Street, Suite 650, and all Services for Children, Youth and Families will be located at 100 W Oxford Street in the Oxford Mills complex (where our Early Head Start program has been located for four years).  We look forward to continuing to improve access to and quality of care  for underserved people and communities from these two locations.

he 2018 Social Determinants of Health Conference hosted by the American Heart Association was held in Philadelphia on Temple University’s Campus on September 24th and 25th 2018.  The Conference strived to remove barriers to good health by convening stakeholders to share experiences on programs, policies, and strategies aimed at reducing health inequities.

During the Conference, the Health Federation of Philadelphia’s (HFP) Leslie Lieberman, senior director of training and organizational consulting spoke to attendees about the intersection of social determinants of health (SDOH) a­nd adverse childhood experiences (ACEs.)

More than two dozen families gathered at the Health Federation of Philadelphia’s Early Head Start community site on Friday, August 17 for a Health Fair and Family Fun Day themed “Boardwalk to Better Health.”  Located in the Oxford Mills complex at 100 W. Oxford Street, the event boasted more than 20 vendors who provided resources to families, health screenings for adults, dental screenings for children performed by students from the University of Pennsylvania, and lots of fun activities for both youngsters and adults.

The New Jersey Coalition to End Domestic Violence is a statewide association that provides leadership, support and resources on the prevention of domestic violence in New Jersey through advocacy, training, public awareness and research.  Each year, they hold a conference that attracts an audience of domestic violence advocates, child protection workers, educators, and law enforcement from across the state.

Members of the National Health Corps (NHC) – an AmeriCorps program operated by the Health Federation of Philadelphia since 1994​ – completed hundreds of thousands of hours of service to underserved ​communities in Chicago, Florida, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh during their year of service​ between August 2017-July 2018​.

Philadelphia, PA - On Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13, dozens of representatives from the Health Federation of Philadelphia’s (HFP) Health Center Controlled Network (HCCN) met for an annual in-person meeting at Temple University’s Center City campus.

November 16, 2017

Health Federation of Philadelphia staff member Marcy Witherspoon facilitated Health Cares about Domestic Violence Day (HCADV) at the Philadelphia Department of Public Health’s eight ambulatory health centers on October 11. Each of Philadelphia’s four domestic violence advocacy organizations have jointly participated in HCADV Day for the past seventeen years.

The Early Head Start (EHS) program recently hosted its annual “Dad’s” Resource Fair. The event was designed to provide information about social services and job opportunities for members of the EHS community. Despite its title, the Fair welcomed all dads and other male figures that play an important role in the lives of children in the program.

Each month, staff members from the Health Federation of Philadelphia’s (HFP) Early Head Start (EHS) program gather in the site’s wellness center for activities focused on wellness and resiliency. Last month’s program was a green living health fair living entitled Keen to Be Green.

Philadelphia – Partnership. Humility. Solidarity. Possibility. These are words used to describe outcomes and results from the Mobilizing Action for Resilient Communities (MARC) convening that was held in March of 2017. The convening brought together community leaders in the trauma-informed movement from 14 networks in 14 states.

Philadelphia – In January over 80 medical case managers (MCMs) and supervisors attended the HIV Medical Update seminar that was coordinated by the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center, of the Health Federation of Philadelphia (HFP) in collaboration with AIDS Activities Coordination Office (AACO).

The Pennsylvania/Mid-Atlantic AIDS Education and Training Center is planning a two-day conference in Gettysburg, PA titled, The HIV Care Continuum: Meeting challenges in prevention, treatment, and supportive services on June 3 and 4, 2015.
